11 in the afternoon is 11pm. Anything "pm" that is after 12pm is AFTER noon (midday)

Actually, "Afternoon" refers to jsut that, the time after noon. Meaning 11:00 PM is still in the afternoon though it may be night time. "Douchebag"

actually, afternoon (one word) refers to the time between 12-5, while after noon (two words) refers to the time after 12pm until the next morning.
